Innsbruck is arguably one of the most famous cities in Austria - certainly in the Tyrol region. It was the setting for the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976 and provides an ideal destination for those who want to try skiing for the first time. There are many resorts in and around the city that are perfect for the novice skier, and the region also offers more demanding runs for those who have learned the basics.
The city benefits from being close to Kranebitten Airport, which is situated out to the west. Ten minutes or so is all it takes to get one of the Innsbruck airport transfers to your accommodation in the centre of the city. Then you can look forward to hitting the slopes for the first time. Many of the ski resorts are further out from the city itself, but you can still access them within an hour or two, depending on which one you head for.
Ski Tulfes
This is a good choice for beginners. The slopes are wide and ideal for those who have never tried skiing before. It also boasts seven ski lifts and the lowest piste is at 920 metres. The beginner slopes are usually marked as blue runs, and this resort has two. It also provides seven red runs for when you gain confidence and experience.
Ski Kuhtai
If you want to stay in a more exclusive resort once you have boarded your Innsbruck airport transfers, consider booking into the Kuhtai-Sellraintal resort. There are plenty of slopes for beginners to try, with eight blue runs as well as seventeen red runs for intermediate skiers. You can also try some cross country trails and take advantage of the fact that this is among the highest resorts you can stay in around the area.
Ski Rangger Kopfl
Some people who hop on Innsbruck airport transfers from Kranebitten Airport do so with their children. If you are looking for a ski resort that is family friendly, the Rangger Kopfl resort is one of the best the region has to offer. It lies about 12 kilometres outside Innsbruck itself, but it rewards you with 17 kilometres of beautiful slopes that are ideal for beginners. Of all the resorts in or around Innsbruck, this one arguably does the best for the kids. The kids can be looked after if you decide to get a couple of hours skiing on some of the more challenging slopes on your own. Don't miss out on the toboggan run either, which packs in 10 kilometres of solid fun!
Innsbruck airport transfers can accommodate ski equipment as well as regular luggage, so there is no need to worry about the amount of equipment you have with you. As you can see, you are able to reach any number of resorts and accommodations within a short while of leaving the airport. This means you don't need to keep the kids entertained for long; and of course, the stunning landscape is likely to captivate them en route too.
