So you've picked La Tania, in the Meribel area, and settled on a chalet! La Tania is connected to the largest contiguous ski area in the world, so you'll definitely have plenty of piste to enjoy, but you might want to know what else will be waiting for you. It's developed a reputation as a family resort, but for many people this just means that it offers a wide range of services.
If you're looking for a lively evening out, or an opportunity to get to know local winter sports experts to arrange some off-piste adventures, you'll certainly be able to without having to plough your way through a sea of children. Whilst it is very accommodating to those travelling with children, the resort never feels like it exists solely for those under 18. Away from your chalet, La Tania has plenty to offer when it comes to food and drink:
Location
Not far short of 20 years old, LT is nestled between its larger and better known neighbours, Courchevel and Meribel, in the sprawling magnificence of Les Trois Vallees. The resort is a drive of around 25 minutes from Moutiers and the village itself is free of traffic - making it a safe place to get around for everyone.
Refreshments
While the first night might see you enjoying an introductory drink and a slap up meal in your chalet, La Tania has got a number of great venues for eating, drinking and socialising. The main social hub is 'Pub Le Ski Lodge', which offers a selection of draft beers as well as other beverages. The venue is affordable compared to many others in the local area and the regular events are popular, especially amongst the younger crowd. Tuesday nights have a reputation for being the best nights for catching live music amongst a rowdier crowd looking to party, and have grown to become semi legendary in the village.
If you're looking for an alternative, the Hotel Telemark occasionally hosts live music, and serves up pizzas to eat in or takeaway, for those who're suffering from après-ski munchies. The Hotel Montana is another quieter venue for those who want nothing more than a relaxing drink in cosy surroundings.
If you want to find top quality dining and an exceptional alternative to the standard fare served up in your chalet, La Tania is also home to Le Farcon, a Michelin-starred restaurant of high quality. La Taiga is also a great spot for those interested in trying local dishes, offering a menu of reasonably priced Savoyarde classics and traditional French food.
